President Reuven (Ruvu) Rivlin, Israel Sunday, October 6 / 7 Tishrei Evening, this is the 27th biblical study group of Project 929, a group that continues to read the Bible from the perspective of Israeli society. The theme of tonight's meeting is "Reclaiming the Old Days - Faith in Personal and National Renewal." Rabbi Benny Lau of 929, authors Eli Amir and Emunah Elon, and representatives of the Ohr Lamishpachot organization will also participate in the event.

In his speech, the president spoke of a passage: "Turn back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; restore our years" (Eicha / Lamentations 5:21), saying, "This is a hymn of hope, believing that we have repentance, both individually and as a people. As a people, we are capable of repentance and renewal, and not just on the surface. The beauty of this poem is its back-and-forth movement." He continues, "What does it mean to revitalize our years? How can you renew like that when you're going backwards? I think the answer is that only then can we be renewed. Only by deepening our roots on earth, only by holding on firmly can you build new buildings. Without the "old" we cannot renew, both as individuals and as a nation, and this is true. Just as renewal is "old", the secret of our repentance lies in our ability to turn back. Return. Stay in touch with the fundamentals. Believe that pure truth is possible."

The president concluded his remarks by saying, "As we face a new year, the winds of change have swept over us all. After two difficult and trying elections, it seems that new days have arrived, and even before we know what they bring, we can already see and speculate on changes and movements, that the past may not be the future, that not everything is perfect, and that there are many deformities and difficulties to be concerned about. Shana Tova (Happy New Year) and Gmar Chatima Tova (the good and final inscriptions in the Bible) life) to all of you."
