Israeli President Reuven Rivlin's visit to the UK mentions the restoration of public pilgrimages to Christian holy sites along the Jordan River (29.11.2019)
During Israeli President Reuven Rivlin's visit to London, President Reuven Rivlin held a meeting with Prince Ghazi Ben Mohammed, Chief Advisor to King Abdullah II of Jordan on Religious and Cultural Affairs and Chief Envoy under and, as well as other Jordanian officials.
In the spirit of open and fruitful dialogue, many issues were discussed, most importantly the development of baptismal sites and the progress of the monastic land initiative that the president has been leading. In recent years, this has included the restoration of Christian sacred sites along the Jordan River and providing a means for pilgrims to visit the area.
The promotion and development of the site will be an important element in bridging the gap between people and religion. Both sides look forward to continuing dialogue on this issue.
